Surgical Steel

Surgical Steel is one of the most common types of nose rings that you can purchase.  If you are more prone to infections, or if your nose piercing is sensitive, this is a great choice for a nose ring. It is a common that a piercer will pierce your nose with a surgical steel nose ring. Surgical steel nose rings are made up of nickel, chrome and molybdenum.  The nickel content in surgical steel can be trapped inside by polishing the jewelry with a protective layer of chromium oxide, making it less likely to cause irritation for those that are allergic to nickel.  The nickel provides a smooth finish to the nose ring, and the molybdenum gives the nose ring its hardness.  In addition to the polished finish of the nose ring, surgical steel is corrosion, and scratch resistant.
